⭐ PTA Board Positions ⭐
President
- Lead and oversee the activities of the Darby PTA. Serve as liaison between the parent community, school, and the district for matters related to the PTA’s goals and objectives. 
- Works with Executive Board and Principal to define the PTA goals for the year. 
- Organize and preside over Association meetings 
- Organize and preside over Executive Board meetings 
- Attend monthly Council and 31st District PTA meetings 
- Prepare weekly announcements of PTA happenings 
- Prepare the master PTA calendar of events 
- Prepare upcoming year budget with Treasurer for adoption by association in September 
- Assist Board with recruiting chairpersons for PTA initiatives

Treasurer
- Serve as custodian of PTA funds, keeping complete and accurate accounts of all income and expenses related to PTA activities. 
- Monitor PTA expenses as compared to budget 
- Meet with the President and Principal monthly or as needed to monitor and review the budget and share information on current school issues/events. 
- Prepare checks and pay bills - obtain appropriate signatures 
- Manage and reconcile PTA bank account and PTA Paypal Account 
- Attend Board Meetings and Association Meetings and present Treasurer’s Report 
- Answer budget questions for committee chairs and help them work within their budget 
- Fill out annual raffle application in early July covering raffle activities in September 1 through August 31 
- Remit Council, State and National PTA dues 
- File necessary paperwork with the state (raffles, insurance, tax returns, etc.) 
- Provide the auditor with financial books, records, and reports required to perform audit (2x per year)

Recording Secretary
- Keep an accurate, concise, permanent record of the proceedings of all meetings of the Association and of the Executive Board. 
- Attend Board meetings and take meeting minutes 
- Attend Association meetings and take attendance and minutes. Bring copies of minutes to the following PTA meeting. 
- Archive all association minutes and meeting materials. 
- Work with Treasurer to review and sign reimbursement requests.

1st VP Ways & Means (Fundraising)
- Oversee fundraising activities. 
- Recruit and guide fundraising chairs for events. 
- Work closely with the Treasurer to ensure program revenues and expenses are in line with budget 
- Oversee or find volunteer to manage passive fundraising initiatives - Amazon, Box Tops, Ralphs, corporate sponsorship, grants

2nd VP Programs
- Oversee school programs.

3rd VP Membership
- Responsible for PTA membership drive (Fall and Spring) 
- Keep a list of members who signed up in person and on Totem 
- Maintain membership database 
- Complete CAPTA challenges to earn awards for Darby

Financial Secretary
- Pick up PTA payments from the school office mailbox once or twice a month 
- Deposit any received checks/cash into our bank account 
- Keep a record of payments and deposits in the bank

Financial Reviewer
- Determine the accuracy of the books and records of the PTA. Detect and recommend correction of errors 
- Audit the books and financial records of the PTA two times per year (January and July) 
- Present a short report of audit findings to PTA membership in September & February 
- Attend Board meetings

Historian
- Keep track of hours spent by parent volunteers. 
- Manage and tally volunteer hours logged by school volunteers 
- Compile volunteer hours of service in the spring and write short annual report summarizing PTA events which is submitted to District PTA

Parliamentarian
- Give advice on parliamentary procedures and PTA bylaws 
- Chair the Bylaws Committee and help make revisions to the bylaws as necessary, typically once every three years (bylaws last updated September 26, 2019) 
- Call the first meeting of the Nominating Committee after helping to form the Nominating Committee in January

Most Darby PTA positions can be done remotely and do not need LAUSD clearance.
Volunteers for a single event can volunteer with approval from our principal and school.
